538 ‘Buffalo’ Squadron is staffed by specially trained Officers of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, and Civilian Volunteers who work along side them. Within our military staff alone, over 50 years of cadet and military experience will guide the youth of the program with 538. Most of our staff have full-time jobs outside of the CAF, while others are students at college and university. While we are paid members of the staff, the bulk of our work is done outside of training hours and is done on a voluntary basis. We work for the Cadets, to give them the best possible experience.

Unit Cadet Conflict Management Advisor (UCCMA):

Capt. Jason Leblanc and Capt. Suzanne Richardson
Confidential Email: j.leblanc@538aircadets.com and commanding.officer@538aircadets.com

The purpose of the UCCMA is largely confidential reporting of issues a Cadet may be having at the Squadron, or even at home or school (such as bullying, difficulties with parents/friends/significant others, homework/job issues…). The UCCMA has many resources and can point the Cadet in the right direction for more help, should it be required. Typical meetings include coping strategies, help sorting through feelings, coming up with a plan to achieve goals, etc. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: The UCCMA is not a licensed counsellor, nor a Doctor and thus cannot refer to specialists nor prescribe medication. For immediate assistance, or life-threatening situations, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.

For information on how you can become a Military member of our staff, please reach out to our Commanding Officer, and be sure to check out www.forces.ca for current Canadian Armed Forces Reserve employment opportunities!
